The Centre for Language and General Studies (PBPU) is an academic centre established following the restructuring of language, general studies, and nationhood-related units at UNIMEL. Originally founded as the Centre for Foundation and General Studies (PAPU) in 2018, the centre has undergone several phases of transformation before being rebranded as PBPU on 13 February 2025. Today, PBPU is responsible for coordinating language courses, General Studies Subjects (MPU), nationhood studies, communication, and student development programmes to produce holistic, competent, and competitive graduates. In addition, PBPU manages admissions through the Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning (APEL), in line with UNIMEL’s commitment to expanding access to higher education through the APEL.A and APEL.C pathways.
